One of Bollywood's most spontaneous and natural performers and a far cry from today's perfectly rehearsed and run-of-the-mill actors, imran khan is candid,happy-go-lucky and yes, naturally witty  his performance in I HATE LOVE STORY proved to the world that he isn't just a good looking face, but a through entertainer. being someone who has always had the good fortune of being in the news for the right reasons and has hardly had anything controversial written about him.
imran falls in the category of those celebrities, who cannot be accused of anything hank-panky,scandalous or unscrupulous. But controversies or not, there is so much to talk to him about.and believe me when i say that imran is an innate talker, whose persona is as versatile as his acting.Ask imran if it was difficult to portray an edgy character in DELHI BELLY,considering it's so different from his chocolate boy image, and pat comes his reply, "For me,as an actor, this change eas not a very big deal because i like the style of the film.I am a huge fan of Guy Ritchie and Quentin Tarantino films and this film is in that world. So doing a film like this was a dream come true for me.I am very emotionally attached to the film because of the kind of film it is" he smiles.
so does he consciously want to break his boy-next-door image?"i think as an actor you have to keep breaking and making new moulds.if you do the same thing over and over again,i promise you that people will get bored of you," he says frankly,"the audience has reached a point right now, where they are waiting for an actor to try new things. The reason i became an actor is so that i can do different kind of work. i want to do different films, look different in my films;otherwise even i'd get bored."
though the biggest superhits of imran's career have been rom-coms,the actor isn't biased towards that genre."you know, romantic cimedies are fun because i enjoy doing comedies. But doing something like Delhi belly stretches you more.so you work harder on this. sometimes you feel like doing something that will really   challenge you or stretch you, sometimes you feel like doing something that is light.so it depends on that is light. so it depends on the script or on the kind of film i want to do at that particular time."
coming to DB,on one side where the youth is loving the music of the film a certain section is also strongly condemning it.What does imran feel about that?" i feel two things," he states,"Firstly, i think youth music has always been reviled by the establishment and people who have protested against Elvis presley and against the Beatles.People have even had jim morrison arrested.so youth music has always been viewed with suspicion. When Rap and Hip-Hop or heavy metal bocame popular, the lyrics constantly came under the scanner. So for me,this is the mark of something yhat is young and cool,"he takes a breather,"secondly,if something is rejected by society and banned, then that means it is in touch with youth today."
considering the reaction have been so strong, does he feel that people are purposely criticizing the music? " i think it's a fairly honest reaction.people aren't connecting with it," he asserts, "people are shocked. But that  is surprising in a sense, because Hindi film lyrics have never been coy. There is a lot of stuff written by very well-known lyricists, which implies explicit and sexual stuff.it's all very poetically phrased. Many lyrics very poetically refer to oral sex.so if you disguise it in Urdu, then it's fine. But if you put it out there in normal Hindi that everyone connects with, then it's bad.So I'm sorry, but is that not a double standard?'he asks earnestly.
